Tropical Storms and Floods

Cities depend on water resources, both local and non-local, for drinking needs and other vital systems (e.g., energy and food production). Effective management of water resources to meet drinking water demands at an affordable price and adequate treatment of wastewater and management of stormwater, which heavily depends on energy provisions, are important components of livable cities, as well as for mitigating urban flooding. This thrust area will:

(i) Analyze interconnections of the water sector with other critical infrastructure systems under changing climate conditions;

(ii) Create distributed and nature-based solutions for stormwater management to achieve multiple benefits
